Warner, the article mentions his step grandfather (I'm guessing - George Washington Kavagnuah) not being a very nice person - http://archive.boston.com/bostonglobe/obituaries/articles/2008/04/30/william_w_warner_88_won_pulitzer_for_chesapeake_classic/sheeshhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03089263306512319313noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7502312000087595701.post-18470117966236781692021-05-16T23:27:12.436-07:002021-05-16T23:27:12.436-07:00Appears to be well preserved, both on the exterior...Appears to be well preserved, both on the exterior and interior after multiple owners and a period of institutional use. Hopefully someone doesn't feel the need to renovate or gut those impressive historic interiors.Marc Sellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06886414307377679241noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7502312000087595701.post-37051346295348146102021-05-16T10:27:59.788-07:002021-05-16T10:27:59.788-07:00The homeless looking woman cropped from the pictur...The homeless looking woman cropped from the picture was there because Weegee and friends encouraged her to be there- they primed her with a bottle, and at an opportune moment pushed her forward.Eric Stotthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02230291249030014518noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7502312000087595701.post-53719260080264063852021-05-15T09:17:39.773-07:002021-05-15T09:17:39.773-07:00The journalist who took the swipe at Louisa Baylie...The journalist who took the swipe at Louisa Baylies in 1942 is an example of how easy it is to look at the veneer of a person's life and make a snide remark. Lady Deices's second husband was Harry Lehr, who along with Mamie Fish entertained a bored society, often with pranks. From everything I have read it is clear that all Lady Deices and Maria Kavanaugh cared about was society, jewelry, and whatever came next. The Weegee photograph shown (cropped) is statement of how they chose to look at the photographer and ignore a homeless looking woman leering at them.

And what of Louisa Baylies, who was no longer socially important? All she did was help thousands of horribly wounded WWI soldiers find a life when very little help was being offered.

From the way Tom wrote this article -- he already knew this.Doughttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05381265307497353021noreply@blogger.com
