You see, I subletted the...What an amazing article! You see, I subletted the studio apartment on the top floor of the building (facing the back) from 1993 to 1998 while a grad student at Columbia. The tenant I rented from had described what was happening while he and the other remaining tenants were trying to buy the building from the city. I knew they wanted to involve a developer but I never learned what happened. Moreover, I had no idea about the building’s rich history while I lived there.
