Unfortunately somewhere during yet another massive renovation in 2017/2018, the interiors, which supposedly had reused salvaged elements of the old Apollo and Lyric theatres was gut renovated and entirely new interiors, representing the Harry Potter franchise, where installed. Surprising that the 42nd St theatre organization which leased the building and went out of their way in the 1990's to see that some historic interior elements where salvaged the first time and re-incorporated into the building didn't care that years later they would ultimately be scrapped and discarded along with other piles of garbage. I think there are mosaic floors, wall embelishments, railings, etc, etc from the Lyric and the plaster dome and ceiling and side boxes and friezes from the Apollo that were reused in the newer theatre at one time called the Hilton then the American Airlines theatre? If you are looking for superb restorarion and preservation just head up the street and thank the Disney Corporation for the New Amsterdam Theatre, a glorious explosion of magnificent plasterwork and unsurpassed interiors.
