Being a Brooklyn girl, she took the subway there to have my mom. We never new Theodore, who I think died of pneumonia around Christmas in 1952, but my mom always spoke of him as a gentle, lovely man. She lives in SoCal, but was in Manhattan for work last week and had been to Charles Street to take photos. We both remember visiting the house, to collect Aunt Emma or drop her home (we lived in Fairfield County with Harriet) and then to clear the house after her death. We vividly remember just one bathroom, original kitchen appliances and most rooms knee deep in newspapers.
Cynthiahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15305226629765321636noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7502312000087595701.post-73572078347607085172019-07-12T07:09:25.893-07:002019-07-12T07:09:25.893-07:00Sorry about that slip-up. However directories list Theodore in the Van Nest house as late as 1920. So they apparently moved to 5th Ave around that time.Tom Millerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13542224816886418433noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7502312000087595701.post-36619244187167351792019-07-12T06:12:38.127-07:002019-07-12T06:12:38.127-07:00And Theodore did NOT marry Olive White Richardson,...And Theodore did NOT marry Olive White Richardson, that was his bride's mother. Her married Harriet Brady of Brooklyn and they lived nearby on 5th Avenue (the corner of 9th?). Harriet was my maternal grandmother, the only grandparent alive by the time my sister and I were born. She became a bit of a hoarder.
Cynthiahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15305226629765321636noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7502312000087595701.post-56559487746289026822019-01-03T14:29:40.649-08:002019-01-03T14:29:40.649-08:00Ebenezer Beadelston!
